## The row that changed state

For three nights the book carried *the moss's third turn — where can it go*. Measured at the
prior commit: **6 files mention it and 0 of them name a destination.** Measured now: **1 does,
and it names Mars.**

**NAMED, not MEASURED.** A named law is not a weaker law — it is one that has not yet been asked
a question it could fail — and writing it here does not promote it.

## Three instruments failed on the way to those numbers

Every one caught by a check, none by care:

1. The hash check matched only rows shaped `path=…|bytes=…|sha256=…` and returned **14**. That is
   the size of that row shape, **not of the corpus**. Both grains are now reported: sidecar-stated
   **255 / 255**, row-stated **14 / 14**.
2. The third-turn count was taken **after** this seat had already written to the tree, so it
   counted its own writing as history. Retaken at `29d4df1`.
3. A substring match had liris's *third quoting* standing as a rival destination for the moss.
   Her sentence is about a different object wearing the same words. **A substring is not a
   subject** — same family as *an expected zero is not a result*, and as *when a measurement
   contradicts something true by construction, suspect the instrument.*

The correction to the block travels **beside** it and is not deleted: what arrived today is the
**first naming of a destination**, not the first touch.

## A record cannot list itself

`SEASON-3-2026-08-07.hbp` and `.hbi` — **itself**. A file cannot carry its own digest, so this is a
**boundary, not a gap**, and it is stated rather than repaired. Same shape as a scan that counted
its own docstring: the instrument is inside the thing it measures.
