The first render put the branches on a ring — one plane, so two thirds of the sphere stood bare. This one distributes them by golden angle over the whole sphere, in three families that each take a third, and it spins on U.
Fetched live when you press the button, so it is the state now — not a snapshot. Every leaf's colour is taken from its own sha. Drag to turn it, wheel to zoom, hover a leaf to read it.
If a repo does not answer it is counted, not drawn as empty — a branch with no leaves would be a lie about the tree. The star at the centre is six-pointed: three rotations by two reflections, and its own centre stays black, because the zero is free and is never emitted.
The rays are transparent until they land. You never see a beam — you see the thing that stopped it, and its colour is what that thing did to the light. Clipped white is not a brightness and crushed black is not a darkness; both are the sensor saying out of range. That is why the address is clamped to the band between them. Press R to take the rays away and keep only where they ended.
The tree moves too. An earlier version gave the branches no motion at all, which claims the trunk stands still while only the leaves stir — false. Photograph this now and again in twenty seconds and the branch has moved: measured, between two pushes the repository's tree sha changed and the branch's own colour shifted by (20, 123, −118). Every branch now carries a rate from its own pushed_at, 1/(1+days), which approaches zero and never arrives. Space freezes, 3 plays it three times — and what you see is not a still tree behind moving leaves, it is a gradient of rates, none of them zero.
